What a year our first one has been !
Pop-up performances in supermarkets, dog shows, shopping centres, universities, hospitals, restaurants, the Provost's Community Awards, even a chip shop !
Our first full show, 'The Witches of Paisley' selling out on both nights at Paisley Abbey and then our first series of workshops with local kids in Paisley schools...
It's been a whirlwind!
...And the whirlwind continues with our first full-length opera:
Puccini's classic La Boheme in an exhilarating production set in contemporary Paisley with a vibrant new translation that puts the action right in the centre of the town.
The company has experienced spectacular growth in a very short time because it has rooted itself in a strong and accepting community; our volunteers are at the centre of everything we do from singing to fundraising.
This project has been partly supported by Renfrewshire Council who clearly see the benefits it will bring to our community. However, to really let this production shine and springboard Paisley Opera to the next level, we are asking for your support too.
Funds raised will go towards costumes, set, and marketing, all of which will be achieved on the smallest of budgets but still cost money.
It will also allow us to have a committed and experienced team of professionals on the design and production side, a talented group of professional musicians to play in our orchestra and a wonderful young professional cast to sing the main roles.
These professionals will support, guide, pass on their expertise and help to develop our volunteers, equipping the community of Paisley Opera with skills, knowledge and a powerfully positive and professional experience. All whilst putting on an unforgettable night for our audiences.
Having your support will mean so much to the community that is Paisley Opera... our volunteers have worked incredibly hard running car boot sales, quiz nights, race cards and lots of other fund-raising ideas, so if you can spare any amount to help us SING ON! into the future and help make this young vigorous shoot grow into something long-term and substantial, we will be immensely grateful.
