Close to the Goal....

I am excited to share with you some wonderful news and am writing to ask for your support.  Some of you know that I recently graduated from Jackson State University with a degree in Music: Vocal Performance.  Since then I have continued to sing in recital and opera performances as well as oratorio.  I have also continued my studies in Music and am now working on a Master\'s degree in Music Education.  

In February, I was selected through national auditions to participate in OperaWorks\' Advanced Artist Program. Out of nearly 300 applicants, I was chosen as one of only 32 singers to participate in this program for a whole month held in Los Angeles, CA.  This is the next step for me in my development and I am asking for your help.  OperaWorks is a nationally recognized program in which I will work with professional voice coaches, directors, and movement teachers who will guide me in my career.  In order for me to take advantage of this exciting opportunity, I need to raise at least $6000.  I have already raised over half of my goal. 

The money collected will go towards enabling me to attend the program, but also to work and continue to grow as a performing artist.  This is where you can help.  I invite you to become a donor or sponsor of my participation in any amount that you choose. The funds will be used for tuition- $3375.00, housing - $810.00, transportation to Los Angeles - $500.00 - 800.00, food, clothes, misc. - $1500 - $2300.  Your donations of $5, $10, $20, $50, $100 or more is appreciated.  If you collect spare change in a jar or car ash tray please consider sending it as in investment in the arts.

The DEADLINE for all donations is June 20, 2011.  I am extending the deadline for those who want to continue to help me.
