Our mother, Tina, has always been a rock to her grandchildren, my siblings, and myself. She is the little sister to Richard and Alexander Soto, an amazing mother/grandmother, a great friend, and a loving daughter. Our mother is the glue that our family so close knit together. She always puts us before herself to ensure we know we are so very loved. There wasn’t an event we had that we looked up and didn’t see mom there. She’s been our number one fans through everything in life. Now, our mom needs us while she battles cancer and we are doing everything we can equally as a family to be there for her, assist her, be positive for her, and express the same love that she gave to us. We are fortunate to have her as our mother and we are all helping her fight to keep her here with us.
At the end of September, Tina noticed that she had a rash on her left breast and knew something wasn't right. She quickly notified her doctor, who let her know that it was a rash and gave her medication to treat the rash. Soon after she noticed the rash was growing and becoming painful and sensitive. After growing concerns she scheduled herself for a mammogram and ultrasound. The tests found suspicious masses in her left and right breast. A biopsy was performed, which ultimately led to a cancer diagnosis of Invasive Ductal Carcinoma stage 3 in her left breast and lymph node. She underwent a pet scan to see if it has spread but thankfully it is still currently localized but action needs to be taken fast in order to prevent it from spreading.
Given she has no family history of breast cancer she and the rest of my family were ultimately in shock and everything started into motion fairly quickly.
She made the very difficult and courageous decision to undergo treatment that consists a chemo port being placed in her chest to administer the 2 rounds of chemotherapy needed. She plans to follow up with mastectomy surgery, radiation, immunotherapy and treatment plans post-surgery.
This fundraiser is to help support our mom with her medical costs that her insurance and our assistance cannot cover.
Positive thoughts and prayers are welcome however, please refrain from asking questions at this time as we are all trying to maintain a positive attitude for her during this difficult time.
Thank you for taking the time to read about our mom’s cancer journey. Any contribution would go far and will be greatly appreciated. We are truly grateful!
