Dear friends,
During Zebulon's 1st grade, Beverly and I became aware of a learning disability that Zebulon has (thanks to Ms. Phillips and several tests), He has dyslexia. Zebulon is very smart, creative, funny, caring, and a wonderful child.
We are fortunate to live near a very special school that specializes in teaching children with Dyslexia, the Key School (http://carolinaday.org) which is a private school that is very selective of the students they accept. We feel very lucky that Zebulon was selected to attend this school this August. Two short stories about Zebulon and how caring and kind he is:
1. A classmate that Zebulon has known since pre-school also has a learning disability, when the new school year (2nd grade) started Zeb was very concerned about his friend and classmate and was not sure if the new teacher and principal knew of his friends condition. He told us of his concern and we made an appointment for Zebulon to talk with the principal about his friend.
2. A teacher assistant at Zebulon's school was injured in a very bad automobile accident. The school was raising money to help this young man with some medical and personal bills. Zebulon decided, on his very own to raise some money by writing and drawing comic books. He sold them to family and neighbors for amounts ranging from $0.50 - $2.00 each. He raised $30.00 dollars to donate to this young man.
We feel that the Key School is going to be the best school to teach and keep Zebulon to continuing to be curious, creative, caring and funny.
Here are a few names that you may recognize, all of these people are just like Zeb, they have Dyslexia too.
Charles Schwab, Sir Richard Branson, Agatha Christie, Cher, Hal Prewitt, Keira Knightley, Tim Tebow, Janie Love, Winston Churchill, Orlando Bloom, Walt Disney, Thomas Edison, and Leonardo Da Vinci.
And maybe one day his name, Zebulon Joseph Potter, will be just as know then those listed.
