Hope Road...ME to Cali
Donation protected
I am traveling with one of my sons from ME to Cali.
I'm calling it Hope Road because I am tying the trip to a medical condition
that I have, pulmonary arterial hypertension.
Hope Road is a concept my friend and I share that if we ever ran into money we would start "New Hope Road" for people who are down on their luck. For me, Hope Road is how to live. Live each and every day as if it's your last. Take every opportunity to help others...random acts of kindness are no longer random but a way of life. Share your vision with others. The hope (pun intended) is that I will have some positive impact on society as a whole, and on my Windham community specifically. As I reach out to kids and they are so grateful:they often comment "how can I ever repay you...") I say "you will repay me when you do the same for your children or the children of our future". The kid inevitably has a "lightbulb" reaction and says, ya, you're right:) Boy, what a wonderful life:)
We are driving as far as we can go and if the car (or me) gives out...we will fly back and call it good:)
We leave July 9...the route is the north part of the US. My doctor will provide a list of medical centers that focus on PAH so I can plan the route along this path as best I can. I am also hopeful to meet others who have pulmonary hypertension (or my specific aspect of PH which is pulmonary arterial hypertension). I would like to prepare a documentary on the disease. I will share this with my students as well as with the Pulmonary Hypertension Association with the thought that this documentary will give hope to those suffering a life threatening illness. The documentary will also help newly diagnosed patients. It's so confusing and distressing when you first learn you have this disease.
This trip will be documented with video (my son will be the videographer). We will also post on Twitter, and Facebook and YouTube.
Listed below is my estimated budget. I think it's reasonable but, of course, if you have any suggestions or questions, please let me know!!! I appreciate any help you can provide:)
