Help with Luna's Surgery
Donation protected
If you have ever had the opportunity to meet Luna, you know that
he is one of the most loving dogs this world has ever seen. Luna's energy and love of the outdoors is unmatched
as can be seen on her regular trips to the beach and park.
Recently, Luna began limping after running and swimming, and in the past several months this limp has got much worse. A visit to our regular vet and a separate specialist resulted in a diagnosis of elbow dysplasia and osteoarthritis. Luna has reached a point where even with medication she can barely walk, as the elbow is very painful and unstable.
A specialist in New Jersey indicated that short of amputating her leg we have one option. Luna will require arthroscopic surgery on her elbow and at the same time will receive stem cell therapy. The hope is the surgery will allow the doctor to remove additional chipped bone that is floating around here elbow. The stem cell therapy will then be performed which will help her cartilage regrow. Stem cell therapy, while not available in humans is being used in animal with success. See the story featured on ABC News: http://abcnews.go.com/Health/arthritic-dogs-healed-stem-cell-therapy/story?id=18905289
Luna's medical bills are going to cost over $6,000 and if you find it in your heart to help us, we would be forever grateful. Whatever you can donate will make a difference and Luna is worth every penny.
We will keep you updated Luna progress.
Thank You
