Please consider making a donation to help pay for John Haaland's medical bills. He is the husband of Lynnette and father to Blair and Brian Haaland and Kristy Stugelmeyer. John has 7 grandkids and one on the way.
John was diagnosed with Stage 4 Renal Cell (Kidney) Cancer in 2005. He had one kidney surgically removed. John has battled through several types of chemotherapy over the years and when one type stops working for him, the doctors switch to the latest drug hoping to get a positive response. Over the years he has experienced the up's and down's of cancer treatment and has maintained a positive never give up attitude.
John lives in Minot, North Dakota, but travels to Houston, Texas every 2-3 months to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center to see the best doctors possible for his type of cancer. The traveling expense alone is high, but he also has multiple tests and scans every visit. The doctor also just switched John to a new chemo treatment that costs $2700 for a 30 day supply out of pocket.
John is 57 years old and has worked hard all his life. He has spent hours in the garage, building and fixing things you wouldn't believe. He enjoys fishing in the summer, and in the fall, hunting with his yellow lab, Mickey. He has supported his children through every stage of their lives, from soccer to volleyball and hockey to NASCAR. John's treatments have left him unable to work in his capacity as a conductor with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad since 2005.
John is a good man full of personality with a desire to live. He has been fighting for his life against this ugly disease for more than 8 years now. If we can all come together and help with the financial burden, it will allow him to continue treatments without the stress of where the money is going to come from.
