Support Education in Sanawari School

Donation protected

Hi!

The project you're about to read has been curated with a lot of love, joy, and selflessness. It was born from 3 volunteers helping at a big school with big needs, but also with big dreams, and big love.

Sanawari School is this Magical place. We have had the pleasure of volunteering at this school for almost a month now and couldn't be more grateful. This is why we decided to try and give back to the kids a little of their love by sharing their stories and trying to help them.

The school has over 1,700 kids and only 19 classrooms. The number of kids would constitute 39 classes if it were spaced correctly, but there isn't enough space. At the moment the 75 children per class are crammed together into 3-child stools and have no space for writing reading or learning in a proper way. We would love to be able to buy more stools per class to help them have the adequate learning space.

Now that we know the huge amount of kids we have at Sanawari, this leads us to the next problem, the classroom insufficiency increased by the lack of an administration block. At the moment, all of the teachers and administration materials are taking a classroom in order to have an administration space, taking away the opportunity for the children to have one more classroom and increase learning space. Therefore, the school has been working on a project to build an administration block in the middle of the school patio. This project would help teachers have more of a private space to work on school administration, exams, learning materials and help children have another class to learn in with a wider space. The school director already has blueprints and construction inquiry, so we're just trying to help him with funding and we will continue to help after we start by painting, plastering and putting our own hands to work for them. This is our biggest project, but we believe it is a huge necessity for the school that will impact them on the longer run and lift a big weight from their shoulders.

Talking about the size of projects, we have 19 classrooms that are in poor conditions. We are about to conclude the first classroom renovation which has taken us 3 days and cost us around 200 USD. The classroom needed re-plastering, re-painting, fixing of the roof, and re-painting and framing of the blackboard. We prioritized this because we believe that a good learning environment is essential for the development of a child's education and our kids at Sanawari deserve the best. With the help of our amazing Tanzanian constructor Ben, and the hard working hands of all the wonderful volunteers we're friends with, we have been able to undertake this project in such a short time and such a low cost. We strongly believe we can help fix all of the classrooms at this school by the hand of God, of each other, and sponsors. The class renovations have the kids jumping from excitement everyday, not leaving the doors and windows as they watch us work in expectance of their new classroom. We would love to give this feeling and beautiful new learning space to every class. With a small contribution you can help us get there!!

Lastly, as we said earlier, these kids are in very difficult economic situations. Every day, the school pays Mammas to come and cook a healthy lunch for the kids so they can stay strong and healthy. Out of the 1755 kids that we have, only 321 kids are part of the lunch feeding program the school offers because of lack of resources. For most of these kids, school might be the only opportunity for them to get a full nutritious meal, given that at home they have only a few foods that may not be the best for their growth and development. This is why our Feeding Program idea was developed. We want as many kids as possible eating at school, to make sure they are well-fed. This is where you can become a part of this amazing project. By giving only 4 USD, you can feed a child every day for one month. We would be thrilled to receive child sponsors for the food program, but the children will be more than grateful, they will be well-fed and extremely happy.

Finally, extra donations for school supplies such as posters, cardboards, chalks, pens, pencils, uniforms for the least fortunate, and stationary in general. We have emailed UNICEF, and are currently working on stationary as a mini project, so any help would be massively thanked for.

Again, we thank you so much for reading this and for your time. We strongly believe in our cause and would encourage you to go out and help any community that you believe is in need, but if that is out of your reach right now, we would love to receive your donations and help the Sanawari community thanks to you. We are open to answer any questions or chat.

Thanks in advance,

Regina Sanchez
