Much "Kneeded" Knee Surgery
Donation protected
I'm posting this on behalf of my friend Yalonda. She recently graduated from college with a degree as a Physical therapist assistant working very hard for 2 years. She began working in a rehabilitation center helping the elderly but unfortunately she was injured on the job, at the time of the incident she didn't think that it was anything serious. However, a few weeks later she was in severe pain and unable to bear weight on her leg. She went to the doctor and was diagnosed with Osteochondritis, which means that she was hit with such force that the impact caused a portion of her bone to die and her knee was being supported by cartilage like a pot hole. The doctor prescribed crutches at all times non-weight bearing for 6-8 weeks to allow it to heal. Unfortunately she didn't fill out an incident report and her employers not only wouldn't give her light duty, but they also terminated her. Yalonda didn't qualify for FMLA due to only being employed at the job for 8 months and now her knee is not healing and requires surgery to repair the damage. The surgery is scheduled for June 25th 2013. The doctor offered to do the surgery for 2,000 to be paid prior to the surgery due to her uninsured status. Yalonda is a very giving, caring and loving person. She just wants to get better and be able to get back to work and could really use some help to get back on her feet literally! Anything that you could give on her behalf would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
