Robbie's Surgery Fundraiser

So, if you're seeing this that means you've been a part of my journey of coming out and accepting my identity as trans. It's time now for top surgery. I have a date set and everything. Now all I need is a little bit of support from those of you who love me. I have some savings that I've been collecting over time and am trying to minimize the amount of loans I will need to take out. I am also putting together a couple of events for folks in the Boston area so that we can celebrate this all together. For those of you who can't attend, I wanted to set up a way for you to share your support. My goal amount is definitely a dream, and anything you can do to help me get there will be amazing and I would be so thankful for.

If you're seeing this and don't know me, here is a little about who I am: My name is Robbie. I grew up in a small town in CT, graduated from college and ran off to Boston to serve a year in Americorps. After americorps I struggled finding a job, volunteered, advised a youth group, and then found a place working with the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition.
I play softball. I go on night bike rides and eat lots of ice cream. I bake a really awesome cake. I love comics and puppies. I want to travel and find all of the adventures. I dream of being a writer, starting non-profits, and working with queer youth in hopes that someday they don't need to have fundraiser startups and political coalitions to make their life what they need (and should have) it to be. Through my chosen family, those I have worked with, volunteered with, and built community with, I've learned that the most important thing in life is simply this: do good things. There is list of reasons why this surgery is necessary, but instead I would rather leave you with the list above, knowing who I am, and that this will help me be all of who I am. Whatever help you can give, it is received with absolute gratitude and appreciation.

For those that are wondering, my insurance does not cover any of the cost of the surgery, nor does it cover any of the recovery time. The surgery, in total, will cost $8,225. For the past two years I have put aside as much money as I can spare, but only enough to cover a little less than half the total cost. The recovery time for chest reconstruction surgery is about six weeks. Only one of those weeks will be still completely paid by both my jobs. I have put myself in a position where I will be able to manage to support myself through my recovery time. However, the more help I receive in covering the full cost of the surgery, and minimizing the loan I take out, the less straining my recovery time will be (financially) and will allow me to take the proper time to heal.

The smallest donation will help. Anything can make all the difference.

Absolute gratitude and thanks - Robbie
