West Highland Way in 24hr Challange

At the start of the year I set myself a challenge to complete the 96miles/155km of the West Highland way in under 24hrs on the 5th of August. I wasn’t planing on raising any money but thought even if I get a couple of hundred quid it would be better than nothing.

In 2021 I went to a doctor to see about bowel issues I had been getting on and off for years and was eventually diagnosed with an Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) called Ulcerative Colitis. Few years before this my cousin David had been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, another IBD . I went about 12 months trying different medications and eventually found a medication that kept my symptoms under control. It has put the breaks on my career and I probably won’t get to where I always thought I would but I’m 1 of the lucky 1s. My cousin David has had a horrible time for years with Crohns. He’s been in and out of the hospital on numerous occasions including getting an operation to remove part of his bowel which he had to get a Stoma for then getting the reverse operation. There’s still a lot not known about Crohns and Colitis and doctors are still trying to find cures and treatments as it’s a trial and error approach to each individual.

I’m raising money for Cure Crohn’s Colitis, a charity where 100% of the money raised goes towards patient centric Inflammatory Bowel Disease research. Cure Crohn's Colitis has the sole of objective of raising money to find a cure for inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
