Help Me Help Animals

Donation protected
In January and February of 2012 I made the decision to become cruelty free and vegan in the way I lived my life, which has been one of the most positive, rewarding, and life changing experiences. The day I read up on what cruelty free really meant I immediately went home and threw away all of my makeup and any other cosmetics, household cleaning supplies, and anything else that harmed animals in their making. I started making my own cleaning supplies, and only buying items that are cruelty free. As for making the decision to become vegan, I decided to do that for Lent. However, at the end I realized what being vegan meant to me, so I made vegan my lifestyle, and never looked back.

Later that year, in November, I met a lady by the name of Jenny Brown at VegFest in Atlanta. Jenny Brown is the co-founder of Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary in Willow, New York. I spoke with her about my love for animals, my goals of working with them, and the possibility of having my very own sanctuary one day! She explained to me the best way to get started is to find an internship somewhere to acquire the necessary skills. To make a long story short, I applied for the summer internship at Woodstock Farm Sanctuary. I had a phone interview with them in March, then drove up to NY in April for my working interview. They offered it to me on May 10th. Unfortunately, on the same day I found out I got the internship, I also found out I was being let go from my job (as of July 1st). This news is devastating, as it would be for anyone losing a job. In my case, losing my job means I may have to give up the wonderful opportunity in front of me- my internship at the animal sanctuary. It's an unpaid internship, so my husband and I were planning on my income up until the point I leave to cover expenses during the time I'm gone.

My husband and I do enough to get by, but like a lot of people these days, times are tough. In order to accept the position at the animal sanctuary, I need $1,800 to cover my expenses while I'm out of work for 6 weeks. I have been so bummed about the possibility of turning down a dream opportunity. My husband and I have been applying for odd and end jobs, we've posted pet sitting adds, babysitting ads- anything we can do to make some extra money to put away. I have a long way to go and not much time. I have to make a decision by July 1, which means I need to raise $1,800 by then. A friend suggested GoFundMe because it's for a good cause- to help me help animals. When a lot of people are willing to spare a minimal amount, it goes a long way. Please consider helping if you're able! Any amount, no matter how small, will help me get one step closer to my goal, and my passion- saving animals.

If I raise more than my goal of $1,800, I will donate the remainder to Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary in Willow, NY.

Thank you for your help!!
