My name is Letitia, I am now 31. In Feb 2009, I came down with what I thought was the flu. ( I worked as a pharmacy technician, and it was still flu season- its a job hazard). After a few weeks of severe flu like symptoms, my symptoms not only increased, the severity of them was unbearable. I was vomiting every 5 min or so for weeks. I lost almost 90lbs in 6 months. I also was having severe blood pressure issues. I have hypotension (low blood pressure) which causes me to pass out frequently, which left me bedridden for almost 2 years. I also have hypertension (high blood pressure) which has landed me in the hospital a few times to ensure I didn't have a stroke or heart attack. I was seen by Dr after Dr, specialist after specialist, no one could figure out what was going on.

Finally in 2012, I found the right Dr. who diagnosed me with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). POTS affects the "autonomic nervous system". Your autonomic nervous system controls specific body functions automatically, like blood pressure, heart rate, digestion, breathing, body temperature regulation. Mine however doesn't work. I have severe digestive issues. I am nauseous about 99.% of the time, I vomit 5/6 times a week, for hours and hours. I also have severe blood pressure issues.

My cardiologist has referred me to the MAYO clinic and I need financial help getting there!!! I need a chance to regain my life back, before I was sick. The quality of my life has diminished drastically. I have some days that I cant even get out of bed because I am so sick. I live in Portland, Oregon. The POTS clinic is located in Rochester,MN.
