Diabetic Alert Dog for Ryan

Donation protected
In 2007, I, Ryan, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. My blood glucose level at the time of my diagnosis was 1196 mg/dL and the doctors were shocked I was still conscious, let alone alive. A few weeks ago, I passed out at QDoba because my blood sugar was extremely low. Thankfully my friends and a nurse were present to help, but what would have happened if I were alone? Unfortunately this is not the first time this has happened, and it occurs because after 9 years I am no longer able to feel when my blood sugars are low or high, which has many risks. A Diabetic Alert Dog is trained to alert their partner before these low or high blood sugar events become dangerous. The dog does so by being trained to recognize the scent of chemicals that the body releases when there are low or high blood sugars and then alerts their partner until corrective action is taken to get blood sugar levels back into a normal range. A Diabetic Alert Dog could make a big impact on my health, but after doing extensive research I have learned I am not able to afford one on my own. I made this GoFundMe page so I could hopefully get a companion to help me with this lifelong disease. While I do not expect anything, I greatly appreciate any amount of money that you could donate and am more appreciative than words can say. Thank you.
