My name is Elliot Christian,
and I'm a student filmmaker. I've had nearly 5 to 7 years experience with
filmmaking from home movies to full on movie and TV show sets, including such
sets as CSI Miami. I've won a best intermediate filmmaking competition with a 4
minute short film I produced with original score and storytelling. My next and
current goal is to enter Sundance 2014, which just opened for submission. I'm
excited for the opportunity to get something like this produced, but I need
your help to do it.
The video I've posted here is an example of my talent and what I can accomplish with a small budget of under 500 dollars. The video itself has nothing to do with my current project, so it's just a showcase. I've never done a campaign like this before, (asking for funds) and I'm excited to see how it will work out, because it's an opportunity to work with a larger budget that I can't normally afford on my own. With your help I can tackle this project with a chance to treat my cast and crew well, rather than just ask favours of them.
I worked out my findings and broke it down to 2 basic categories. Costumes/sets, and Cast & Crew. I've budgeted in 10 to 12 days of primary shooting, and I intend to compensate my cast and crew with more than just food, copy, and credit. I want to be able to give them 5 dollars each time they come out for a little gas compensation. Then I have catering, and I already have some friends who will be willing to cook if I can provide the food to cook with. All in all this should take about 40% of the budget. Then my costumes and my sets take 25-30%, and then a 10-15% towards Murphy's Law. The remaining will return to you in the form of perks.
I believe in telling good stories. I'm excited to release this one because I've learned so much about story in the past year. I want this chance to make something that's entertaining and yet has an impactful meaning to it. I have other stories that are better than this one, but I want to start smaller and build an audience before tackling those.
I hope you can contribute to this ambitious chance I have, but if you can't perhaps you know someone who can. Anything you can contribute will be greatly appreciated, and any word spreading you can do will further this dream.
