Bright Student Seeking Financial Support

My name is Zuri. I moved to UK 3 years ago. I was raised by my single parent mother with two siblings. My father has not been in my life. My life has consisted of moving from place to place as my mom looked for work. I have therefore attended 10 different schools since early primary school. However, despite the instability, through sheer determination I completed my IB (international Baccalaureate) in 2019 and passed. I was disappointed that I could not continue with joining a U.K. university because of lack of fees. I am ineligible for U.K. residency status which means I pay the higher university rates as an international student and am not eligible for UK government student loans. I took a gap year and differed my admission to figure out what to do. I got a job as a telephone operator making minimum wage. I got furloughed due to COVID19. I now work at a warehouse scanning packages overnight. I am working hard while saving towards university. Am nowhere near meeting the targeted fees. It has been 14 months since I finished high school and I am still uncertain about my future educational aspirations due to lack of fees. My admission is to pursue a BSC degree in Computer science at University of Brighton from September 2020. I want to be a computer software engineer. My hope is that one day I inspire my younger brother and his age group to never give up. I know there is hope and that someone out there will read my story and help me . I believe in giving back. During Lockdown, I made homemade masks on my mother’s sawing machine and gave to our homeless people around my local town. I also delivered the masks to our NHS GP office as a gesture of gratitude to the frontline work they continue to do during the pandemic Am a smart young lady who knows what I want having beaten many odds and I believe this challenge too is not insurmountable.
