Cause for Paws prides itself on being a powerful force in helping to end pet abandonment, abuse, and neglect in North Carolina and beyond. We take in dogs and cats of all ages and breeds, and never turn our back on the disabled or those with serious medical conditions. Often these are the animals that are overlooked because of their imperfections, and in our eyes, they are just perfect! We believe ALL animals deserve a fair chance at the very best life possible.
Given the recent times, this year has brought a surge of displaced animals to Cause for Paws, due to owners losing their jobs and being unable to afford costly vet bills. We had a decision to make at the beginning of this Pandemic- to either scale back our ability to take in special needs, or figure out a way to provide hope to the hopeless- we chose the latter. It is with the support of our community that we are able to do the work we do- thank you for being their HEROS!

8/24- Izzy-
Izzy came back into CFP as an owner surrender, in very rough shape. Her allergies were so severe her skin was bleeding, and she was missing hair throughout most of her body, the pain she felt was unimaginable. We immediately went to work getting diagnostics done to determine the best course of treatment. While we were solving one problem, another one presented itself. Izzy had significant issues getting around and eventually found herself barely able to hobble outside to use the restroom. After proper imaging and diagnostics, it was determined that Izzy had severe luxating patella on both knees, and ruptures in her cranial cruciate ligaments. So far she has had one orthopedic surgery done that cost about $3,700. She will need the identical surgery done on her other knee very soon. Any amount helps to get Izzy on the road to recovery!
