Hello!!
My name is Alex, i use they them pronouns and I am non binary. I have set up for this page to raise some funds to help me get my top surgery.
About four years ago i went into rehab for a drug and alcohol addiction. After getting clean and sober, and thawing out my emotions I started to bind my chest, use they/them pronouns and identify openly as non binary. Since then I have been binding or taping my chest every day, which is a super long time. It's painful for the ribs and stresses and thins my skin. Even though it is painful, at the end of the day I don't like having to take it off. So... the eternal binder...I've finally taken the decision to have my top surgery!
The cost of the surgery is roughly £8000 with a surgeon i have chosen in the UK. With 10% of the total cost I can put a deposit down and book a date!
This surgery will be life changing for me in lots of ways. I can play sports i'd like to play, use the changing rooms/toilets i'd like to use, i can generally just live my life to the fullest. Dysphoria can sometimes be thought of as similar to discomfort, but i think it's more than that. When i have a dysphoric day, it feels like i can't stand to be in my body anymore. Having top surgery will help me to be fully present in my body and enjoy living in my skin.
I'd really really appreciate you contributing in anyway you can. I know that money is tight for lots of us, so even just sharing this with your social media/friends/family would be really appreciated.
