Its difficult enough when a loved one is diagnosed with an illness which turns the family upside down, but even more difficult when that family member is a child. 11 year old Grant Holland, son to Geoff Holland and Danielle Autenrieth Holland, younger brother to Gillian, has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This type of aggressive cancer begins in the white blood cells of the bone marrow. This type off leukemia invades the blood. It is an acute type of cancer which can progress rapidly.
Grant is beginning 28 days of aggressive chemo treatment at John Hopkins Children's Center, followed by 3 years of outpatient chemo. He will not be able to return to school until his immune system is healthier. He will be unable to play any sports or just enjoy his summer like other kids his age.
Grant's mother and father are 200% committed to fighting this battle with Grant and getting him healthy as quickly as possible so Grant can return to enjoying the carefree childhood he deserves. He is focusing on getting healthy at this time. Both parents will be taking care of him.
Danielle is a graduate of Point Pleasant Beach High School Class of 1989. We are looking to our community to reach out and help the Autenrieth family at this time, as most know the costly expenses that come along with treatment of this nature.
We will be keeping the community updated on Grant's progress. From the bottom of our hearts, we can't begin to tell you the amount of gratitude the family has for all who have reached out thus far. Please keep Grant, Danielle, Geoff and Gillian in your prayers. Together we can help the family battle this horrific disease.
