Pressing for the finish line – It is not always about the race, it is about the finish line. Together we can help Wilmina reach the Finish Line in her recovery from brain surgery.
Wilmina experienced splitting headaches; in her own words described as “the worst headache ever experienced” in her life. She felt stiffness in the neck, slight twist and heavy feeling on top lip,slurred speech and tingling on the left side of her body. With much uncertainty, Wilmina was taken to the emergency room with hope of treatment of a terrible headache and a clean release to go home. But as this is being written, Wilmina did not get a clean release, instead she was admitted to the hospital after initial testing and discovery that her splitting headache was a result of a tumor on her brain. The CT scan showed the tumor had bled and by next morning she was in a three and half hour surgery to remove it. With many prayers and support from friends, family, and amazing medical professionals and staff, even strangers, Wilmina is slowly recovering, responding well to directions and regaining strength. Wilmina is pressing for the finish line but she needs some support and encouragement to Finish.
Without health insurance the (estimated medical cost) surgery estimated cost could run over $30,000 . Her family is doing what they can to raise enough for her medical bills. This inspiring beautiful young lady, an accomplished athlete at woman’s track and field (Oklahoma Christian University-2014-15), is described as a caring, smart, independent, optimistic and vivacious in all she does and to everyone she meets. Let us all join the race to the finish line with this compassionate young lady for she has a vision and a great future ahead of her.
