Hi Everyone,
First of all, thank you for taking the time to come here. I truly appreciate you taking an interest. After years of performing stand-up comedy I decided I want to do a more substantive take on my life and childhood on stage. I start working on material that is far more personal and emotional. I really begin to open up about some of my family's struggles and my own.
The reactions I'm receiving from audiences is astounding. People are openly sharing with me their life stories and personal struggles. It seems like the honest and gritty material is striking a chord and I'm thrilled that I'm able to do even more than make people laugh. Now, I want to turn this material into a full-on solo show.
I know I need a stage for this. I need an outside director and a team to do it right. But doing a theater performance (for any period of time) is not nearly as simple as grabbing a mic and making some strangers laugh. This will require a large coordinated effort of people, resources, time, and money.
We hope to raise enough so we can do a 3 week run (enough time for reviewers to come and to be eligible for accolades in NY) at a downtown theatre with all the accoutrements. I appreciate any help you can provide to make this a reality.
