Helping out for a hand-bike!

Hey;

My name is Karina. Most of my life I have been known to be a "home-body" yet, having a disability and limited transportation never helped my case until October of 2012. I was first introduced to Achilles International (an organization that helps disabled athletes and disabled Veterans get back into fitness via training and practicing for marathons on hand-cycles) on a sunny day at Broward Central Regional Park in Sunrise, Florida.


Once I started practicing more I was able to participate in my first-ever 5K in West-Palm Beach, then a 10K in Boca Raton, and my most recent accomplishment - a half-marathon in Port St. Lucie. Being a part of Achilles has helped me tremendiously - it has gotten me more physically active, given me more self-confidence and helped me make friends.


Unfortunately, I do not have my own hand-cycle to train on a daily basis and it is a must if I am wanting to participate in out of state marathons. Even if all you can do is donate a dollar, that will be one step closer to reaching my goal.
