Lifesaving medical research for Rick Evans

Hello, my name is Taylor. I am raising money for my dad to help cover his medical bills (Blue cross Blue Shield is giving us issues with his coverage) and transportation costs for his wife driving from where they live 3 hours away from the hospital. He has a currently unknown medical condition that is spreading rapidly. Doctors do not know what this is but it’s urgent.

Doctors have shared his case info with hospitals around the country and have been trying to get him into Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for help.

He was admitted to Mercy hospital in OKC on 05/03/23 with severe swelling spreading through his body rapidly. Doctors have run tests and cultures in an attempt to identify the cause of infection.. everything is negative. The infectious disease doctor at Mercy hospital said it looks familiar to an unidentified bacteria that has only had 2 reported cases in the US and a 50% survival rate-UPDATE (cultures for this have not grown anything) or possibly something completely new.

He has been on many types of antibiotics and steroids during this stay and has had a fasciotomy on the arm most swollen to keep his arm from busting open from the swelling. Doctors are still researching what this could be.

UPDATE 05/08/23 Doctors at mercy hospital have been consulting with other hospitals to get some answers. So far, no one has any. They think we may be dealing with something new that no one has ever seen before. They are considering moving him to Mayo Clinic in Minnesota since they have more capabilities for research.

His wife needs assistance for air fare and to afford them both being off work
