Malik’s Road to Recovery

On the evening of August 16th 12-year-old Malik Herron was a front seat passenger in his mother’s vehicle. While at a stop sign Malik was struck in the face by a stray bullet during a senseless shooting in Utica NY.

This unfortunate incident has caused a tremendous financial impact to Malik’s Mother Vanessa. Vanessa is currently without a vehicle and out of work so that she can be at home to care for Malik. Due to the seriousness of the injury there’ll be extensive medical and dental treatment required. This fund will help relieve some of the financial burden for Malik’s post care including but not limited to weekly transportation to and from Syracuse, dental work that will be required along with mental counseling for post-traumatic stress from the incident.

Malik is a respectable, caring, loving young man, whose smile would add sunshine to anyone’s day. Malik showed a tremendous amount of strength during his time in the hospital. Malik is an avid football and basketball player and was eager for the school year to start so that he could try out for fall sports. Unfortunately, because of his injury Malik is unable to play any sports at this time.
