Let's Get Nicole Back on Her Feet!
This beautiful child is Nicole, daughter of a dear friend. She's eight years old, and has Down's Syndrome. In June she has to undergo very difficult surgery on both ankles and knees. When she comes home, she's going to need some specialized care.
Her dad, a single parent, has good health insurance, but it won't pay for in-home care post-surgery. Moreover, he is an hourly worker, and doesn't get paid for time off. He'll be taking some time off to care for Nicole, of course, but he can't afford to take a couple of months, which is how long she'll be incapacitated and unable to return to school or daycare.
We are trying to raise some money so that her dad can pay for a visiting nurse. We'll all help as much as we can, and as well as we can, but Nicole will be basically immobile, with some special medical needs.
