I Need a Little Help

Donation protected
Hi, it's me, Ginny. As some of you know, I contracted a serious case of COVID-19 in July which required a stay in ICU. After being hospitalized for over a month, my condition has improved enough that I have spent the last few weeks in an outpatient rehab facility, where I remain; I'm still not home yet after two months.

I was bedridden for a month and a half, unable to walk or even stand for more than a minute or two. Only now am I developing the stamina to walk down the hall, lift a few pounds, or climb small steps. Having experienced the reality of being critically ill for a few weeks, I know I'm very fortunate to be alive.

Unfortunately, my lungs have been seriously compromised. I require supplemental oxygen at all times right now, and maybe always will. While my doctors are hopeful that I may one day recover, the medical community is still learning about the after effects of the virus, and my prognosis is equally blurry.

The reality is that the end of my stay in rehab is approaching, and I’m beginning to plan for my new life as best I can. In that regard, one thing is certain: I need a light, portable oxygen concentrator for my home. They cost around $2,000.

I’m hoping you, my friends, are willing to help provide at least partial financial assistance so I can buy one. My insurance covers some things, but not everything, and oxygen is one thing that I cannot do without while my insurance company considers my situation.

I also no longer have an income, and I'm unsure when I will be able to return to work. I’m looking into applying for disability, but those wheels turn very, very slowly. A good oxygen concentrator will eventually be a necessity for returning to a normal job again.

Right now, I’m concentrating on raising the funds needed for the oxygen concentrator, but I'm also facing financial challenges like keeping my lights on at home, my mortgage, and bill payments. Every resource at my disposal is tapped.

I'm facing so much with returning home that I just don’t know what else I can do. I need your help. To breathe. I know the pandemic has made things tough for everyone, and it's hard to ask but, honestly, I'm just grateful for the chance to do so.

Thank you so much for taking the time to hear my story and by sharing only what you can. It's all much appreciated by me and mine.
