Jessica's Quest for Miss United States
I have been selected to represent
Alaska in the Miss United States pageant in our Nation's Capital over the
weekend of the fourth of July. It is such an honor to be chosen from so many
qualified applicants and I am excited to be competing with so many young,
accomplished women from across the country for the title of Miss United States.
I am a graduate of the University of
Alaska Anchorage, where I obtained a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology. I will
begin my graduate education in October of 2013. I hold certifications as a
chemical dependency and behavioral health counselor and have a specialized
training background in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, as well as working as a counselor
to youth ages boys who have just aged out of foster care. I have previously
represented Alaska at the National Youth Leadership Conference, as a United
States Senate Intern on Capitol Hill for Senator Lisa Murkowski and at the
National Sweetheart Pageant. I have received two awards from the Children's
Miracle Network for my devotion and outstanding service to my community.
Winning the title of Miss United
States has given previous title holders the opportunity to use her voice and
advocate for the issues in the community that are dear to her. My platform is Mentorship for Academic Excellence. Sadly,
it can be so easy for children to fall through the cracks when it comes to
keeping up with homework, attending school regularly and staying on the right
path for success. My life was changed by a mentor and I would like to continue to pass on that gift to future generations.
If chosen as Miss United States I
will have the opportunity to travel the nation representing many nonprofits
including Relay for Life, United Way and Big Brothers Big Sisters; all of which
I work actively with here in the state.
Prior to the competition in July there
are quite a few expenses that arise for the competitors. I am hoping that you
will be able to assist me with any contribution you can afford. The sponsorship
that you provide will go toward my hotel stay in Washington, D.C.,
transportation, meals, wardrobe, production of the pageant shows, chaperones, hostesses,
pageant staff, and other miscellaneous expenses.
As a sponsor, you will receive national
recognition in the official pageant program book. Full color ad pages are also
available for purchase.
Sponsorship can be deductible as a
business advertising expense.
Thank you ahead of time for your generosity!
