We Are Marshall

It has been another 2 years... 10 years of fighting & inspiration! 2 years of some serious blows and extraordinary battles to overcome letting go.

For more than 8 years, Marshall has been fighting... Fighting with more strength & courage than I have known possible in a person. His cancer is called MEN-1 - a form of NETS carcinoid cancer. Basically, it's multiple tumors through his endocrinne system. It's incurable, but through multiple surgeries, radiation treatment, experimental treatment & traditional chemo, he has fought. In his fight, he has brought strength & understanding to all that know him or have even heard of him. In all of it, he has fought with only moral support. I have had many friends ask how they can help. Finally, I have a way. Unfortunately, it's because we are running out of options except for a pricey one. It's called PRRT. It's the same treatment Steve Jobs had & it helped him manage his endocrine tumors. (Yes, Mr. Jobs had Endocrine cancer.) You can read more about PRRT here: http://www.prrtinfo.org/prrt Marshall's doctors & the article provide hope that we can manage this disease for a bit longer. The problem, $40k. So, I'm setting up this page to help raise money to get us there because We Are Marshall. We Are Hope. We Are Never Giving Up.I will keep this page updated & provide more insight into the most amazing person I know & his fight. In the mean time, from his words, I will share one of his amazing quotes (which is so much more graceful than my own)... "We all deal with black skies above. What is important is not to fixate on the current conditions, but to weather the storm for the blue skies ahead. It takes the wind to spread the seeds and the rain to nurture them. Even if it is so bad that it tears you down to the ground, it leaves opportunity to rebuild. It is the storm that brings life, and makes it beautiful. Embrace your challenges. They make you stronger.
We face CHALLENGES
We face ADVERSITY
We will OVERCOME
We will SURVIVE
We are STRONG
We are DETERMINED
WE ARE...MARSHALL"

First of all, I would like to thank my sister, Sarah, for the amazing job that she has done setting this page up for me, for promoting it, and for the tremendous amount of time that she found to do so. I don't know how you get all of that energy. I am truly blessed to have your help. Thank you Sis!

I also must thank the hundreds of "shares" on FB by friends, family, friends of friends, friends of family, family of friends, and even strangers. (I plan on getting to all of those FB shares and thanking you for them, if I can.) I am truly in awe at the tremendous amount of support. That, along with your thoughts and your prayers, your words of encouragement and your support, not to mention your actual donations. It is overwhelming, as this goal seemed as though it would be an impossibility before we started, yet very much attainable almost immediately once it went live. We still have a ways to go, so please keep sharing.

I must apologize for being absent as this got started. Learning of my set-back with by disease's advancement and the pending treatment was a lot for me to process. I've been going through a myriad of different emotions and thought processes. That is why Sarah's getting this going, and my wife, Tara, keeping me updated, along with her positivity (Thank you baby, for your continued patience with me and your unwavering love and support), has been so hugely important. If not for them, I would still be trying to figure out what I should do to get started.

I am confident in the PRRT treatment, and the radiation on my spine. For full disclosure, this treatment will most likely not cure me of my cancer. That would be asking too much. However, what is promising is that it should give me some time. It is hopeful that this will stabilize my disease and keep it from advancing for at least a couple of years or more. And believe me, when you are running out of time, you will take any additional time that you can get. And hopefully this additional time will be time enough to find a cure.

With your donation, I cannot promise that this will be successful. I wish I could. But what I can promise you is that I will continue to fight. No matter what, I will always continue to fight.

Thank you all for your support! Love, hope, strength, friends, and family! Onward!
