Hi everyone, my name is Rowan Verhaalen (they/them). I am a graduate of the class of 2020 and a current freshman at Case Western Reserve University, accepted into the nursing program (BSN). My ultimate goal is to become a pediatric nurse and give back to the community as I was also a child that was frequently sick. I come from a single parent household where my mom struggles to make ends meet, and with the pandemic, it made our living situation much worse. My mom is unable to work two jobs due to an injury, and I unfortunately cannot work myself. Due to COVID-19, my worsening mental health conditions, and a recent car accident, I am
cannot work for the remainder of the summer which is where I would save up money for the upcoming semesters, help my mom pay our medical bills as well as bills to fix our car, which is our only source of transportation. Additionally, due to the fact that I am going to school in Cleveland, I need money for transportation, tuition, books and fees related to the nursing program. Without any help, I will be unable to attend Case Western, and I won’t be able to accomplish my dream of becoming a nurse and helping others. Any donation helps, thank you.
