Hello Everyone,
My name is Austin Johnson and I need your help. I lost my hearing four and a half years ago in a scooter accident in Tallahasse. Although this was a tragic loss for my family and I, the experience has taught me to see the world in a new light and to be thankful for the blessings God has given me. I recieved cochlear implants only a few months after going deaf and have been lucky enough to "hear" with their help. However, after four years with this wonderful technology, both the right and left processors have given out on me and now I am completely deaf again (couldn't hear an airplane right next to me). While there are many benefits to being completely deaf (sleep great, pray alot, can't listen to mother, etc.), it is not the best situation for school and work. I graduated from FSU in 2013 and worked for two years now, I am wrapping up my first year of graduate school at FAMU as i am pursing a Masters of Architecture. I am asking for this $5,635 because it is exactly half of what it would cost to buy a new set of cochlear implants (kind of like getting a new iPhone in the deaf world). My parents and I have filed several appeals with our insurance and they have not granted us anything. My parents have already paid for more money than i want to know to get me the help i have already had. They are unaware of this attempt to raise money as I would like to hopefully suprise them with half the funds in an effort to lighten the burden on them. Thank you everyone, for even taking the time to read my story. If you have money to donate, my parents and I (and whoever tries to talkt to me) would be incredibly greatfull. Prayers are even better than money so we will love you all for some of those too. Thank you all again.
