Help Clayton to fight brain cancer DIPG

Hi, my name is Kathy. I’m an auntie of a sweet, handsome, smart little boy named Clayton.  His mother and father are Shirley and Nguyen and he has a younger sister, Leighton.

About a month ago, he had some symptoms that we thought were related to anxiety and stress about school, since he started going back to in-person classes after having over a year of zoom classes. 

On May 8, 2021, he started having a droopy face, double vision, and problems with swallowing and drinking.  We rushed him to the ER at the Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and a CT scan revealed he had a brain tumor.  The MRI was ordered for the next day, Sunday 5/9, and he was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), which is a type of tumor found in an area of the brainstem known as the pons.  In this time, there is no cure for this rare cancer and it is inoperable. However, there is the standard treatment of radiation and clinical trials that he has qualified for. 

Clayton is set to begin radiation this week for five days per week, for six weeks. 

I am setting up this GoFundMe page to help with growing medical expenses, an uncertain number of months off of work, potential travel, and anything else the family will have to endure, that way Clayton’s mom and dad can spend all their time focused on the care of him and not have to worry about finances.
