My name is Makeda Hampton and I am a classically trained soprano. It is hard to believe, but I officially began my vocal training 10 years ago as a freshman in college, and I certainly could not have asked for a more fulfilling career path. As an instructor of voice at Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL, I have the distinct privilege to train singers and positively impact their future. Even with my teaching responsibilities, I will always have an obligation to further educate myself to strengthen and enrich my performance abilities. The Tyrolean Opera Program (TOP) will give me that opportunity.
TOP is a three week summer opera training program located in Maurauch, Austria on Lake Achen (Achensee), in the beautiful Tyrolean Alps. TOP provides a unique opportunity for singers and pianists to receive training in classical opera in the birthplace of the art form -- the heart of Europe. North Americans and Austrians work together to study voice, acting, dance and the German or English language. I am truly excited about this experience for these wonderful artistic opportunities. I will also be touring various historical music venues and musical events in Germany.
I am blessed that I have received a partial tuition scholarship to attend TOP! However, there are expenses that remain uncovered. I have decided to launch this GoFundMe campaign to offset the cost of my trip which will ensure that I am able to meet the financial obligations. Listed below are the remaining unfunded items:
Remaining Tuition: $500
Airfare: $1800
Accommodations: $2000
Germany music tour: $1200
Please know that any donation amount you choose to make is accepted and greatly appreciated!
