China 2013!
My name is Courtney Woodard! I
have been chosen to participate in a once in a lifetime Ambassadors to China
program sponsored by the Kennesaw State University Confucius Institute,
Institute for Global Initiatives and the C5 Youth Foundation of Georgia.
The
C5 Youth Foundation of Georgia (C5) is a five-year leadership development
program for high potential young people from risk filled environments. C5's goal is to help students like me
graduate from high school, attend college and become individuals who are:
Character-driven, Community-focused, Challenge-ready, College-bound, and
Committed to a better future.
Kennesaw
State University has more than a decade long partnership with the People's
Republic of China. The mission of the
Confucius Institute is to promote Chinese culture and language through a
variety of engaging activities and classes including cooking, calligraphy, business
communication, language classes and much more.
The goals of our program scheduled to take place July 10-22 are:
- To
promote communication between the youth of China and the United States.
- To
enhance the understanding of Chinese language and culture.
- To
stimulate U.S. High school students' interest in learning the Chinese
language.
This program will afford me the
opportunity to not only visit many historical sites, but also to spend time
with Chinese students my own age. I am
excited to learn about their culture as we share our own. I have attached the tentative itinerary for
your review. My obligation is to
organize and facilitate presentations for my school, C5 and my community when I
return.
One
hundred percent of the funding for the portion of the program taking place in
China is provided by the KSU Confucius Institute. My obligation is to raise the $2000.00
necessary for the air transportation, guide fees and travel visa.
I
would like to ask you to consider supporting me in this effort. In exchange I will list you and if you have
any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Jeff Cohen, C5 Georgia
Executive Director at (770) [phone redacted] or by email at [email redacted].
All donations are tax-deductible! The C5 Youth Foundation of Georgia is a 501(c) (3) designated organization!
