It wasn’t their typical father-daughter day of fishing.

Chris, a 24 year old Occupational Therapy Assistant at Jefferson Regional Medical Center suffered a tragic eye injury while fishing with his 6 year old daughter Payton on Tuesday, June 29, 2016 at Moraine State Park, Butler County.  Chris and Payton spend all of their free time enjoying each other, fishing together; however, this trip took a turn for the worst.  While attempting to unsnag his fishing hook, he pulled the fishing rod too hard, which resulted in the hook flying back and lodging into his right eye.  After realizing what happened, Payton rushed to her dad’s side, becoming hysterical herself, which drew the attention of a nearby couple who notified 911.  What a hero Payton is!

After being transported to the local hospital it was then determined he needed to be airlifted to Allegheny General Hospital.  Upon arrival at Allegheny General Hospital, it was determined he had shattered his retina and dislodged his iris.  During a 3 ½ hour surgery doctors removed his iris.  He will need to undergo at least 4 more surgeries over the next few months leaving him with only a 20% chance of regaining eye sight in his eye.

The accident has left Chris out of work for at least the next 4 months, with no Short-Term Disability.  In order to have Chris and his family’s base needs met, this gofundme page will directly benefit Chris, his girlfriend, Sam, and their daughter Payton.
