Help fund the “Latch Relay” Vinyl

On 4/11/21, my twin brother, Adam Perkins passed away. For those that know Adam, I don’t have much that I need to say. For those that don’t know him, he is a trailblazer with a musical and comedic vision far beyond this world. He lives on through everyone that met him, everyone that laughed with him, and everyone that listens through his music. I use the present tense with intention, as I know he isn’t gone.

Sometimes, in the womb, a twin will die and the other will absorb him. This is known as “Vanishing twin”.
In some instances, the dead twin is compressed into a flattened, parchment-like state known as fetus papyraceus. Adam becomes paper, for me to write a new story.

In the days since his passing, I’ve been
thinking of people like books. Some are short and incredible; they leave a lasting impact despite their brevity. Some books are long and unbearable because they drag on for far too long. I find myself glad that Adam was not a dictionary.

In 2018, Adam released “Latch Relay” under the moniker Plas Teg. There are two components here that I would like to discuss. First, the title of the album:

Latching relay describes the type of relay, or electromechanical switch, that maintains its position after the power is removed. The reason latching relays are used is because they allow control of a circuit by providing a single pulse to a relay control circuit.

In this time of mourning, I feel his position, despite the lack of his physical presence in this world. He sends his signal through a pulse in my heart, and I must fulfill his musical destiny that was so tragically cut short.

Second, I’d like to touch on the meaning of his artist name, Plas Teg:

Plas Teg is a Grade I listed Jacobean house in WalesIt is near the village of PontblyddynFlintshire between Wrexham and Mold. It is considered to be one of the finest examples of Jacobean architecture in Wales, and the finest in North Wales.

It’s a breathtaking building, that sticks out from the surrounding landscape. It’s not intrusive, rather it is welcomed and appreciated. There is a woman who lives inside, Cornelia Bayley, who has dedicated her life to maintaining the building and preservation of its original state. There are beds with sheets that haven’t been changed in hundreds of years. It’s also considered to be haunted.

Adam is beautiful, and sticks out in the same way. He was also haunted with demons that only he could feel. I liken myself to Cornelia, as my job becomes to preserve his legacy until the day that I go to be with him again.

We are pressing his album onto vinyl, in a beautiful translucent red. His favorite color, but also the color of life, blood, and celebration. Celebration of his beautiful life and lasting impact on this world.

Extraneous funds, beyond the cost of the record production, will be donated to a charity or cause of our choice, in his name.
