German's Semester Abroad: Hong Kong

Traveling the world and experiencing different cultures and customs in order to have a powerful, positive impact on humanity is my number one priority. The only way I could ever do this is by becoming more aware of the things that are happening in the world I live in. I have been given the opportunity to explore and study abroad in Lingnan University, Hong Kong.  As a Media and Society Major, and Studio Art Minor I believe one of the largest metropolitan cities in the world, Hong Kong can provide me with an outstanding insight on the media and society relationship and a completely new perspective on how people live in a completely different side of the world. I wish to learn about the struggles we share and how they are dealt with in Hong Kong as opposed to the way problems are handled here in America. I would be able to admire the architectural designs that scrape the skies of Hong Kong, as well as the ones that line the streets. I am eager to look around at random billboards and advertisements and try to analyze the purpose of the ad and compare them to similar American ads. I will be tasting food from an authentic restaurant of Hong Kong because food is obviously the first step to getting to know someone's culture. I will venture into a park and hopefully spark up a conversation with a local and learn something completely new from this stranger. I also hope to take trips from Hong Kong to nearby islands like Thailand and the phillipines in order to further expand my wisdom.
I dream to be able to travel as much as possible to learn about new culture systems in order to move the world in a more positive and sustainable direction. My departure date is schedules for Aug. 15th -16th, 2016. Every share, like, cent and dollar will be highly appreciated.
