Kurt and Lisa have been through a lot. Lisa was bitten by a rattlesnake at their home here in Tiger, GA. She was 17 weeks pregnant and as an apparent result of the snake bite, lost the baby.

Lisa is the owner of Salon B13 in Tiger and Kurt is the assistant manager and lead guide at Highlands Aerial Park. During this time and for some time to come, they are both without an income. Below is their story in their own words:

This from Lisa early on:
As many of you know, I was bitten by a rattlesnake last night. I'm 17 weeks pregnant. The pain is like no other I have ever felt. I'm in ICU on my second round of antivenin and can't wait for the swelling and pain to go away. The pain and swelling started on the outside of my foot where the bite is and has creeped up my leg to above my knee. The rest of my leg is not in pain, but aches. I will be fine and the baby will be fine. Thank you all for your prayers.

From Kurt after the loss of the baby:

Thank you, Jesus, for wrapping your loving arms around Lisa and me!

The last 6 days have been the most terrifying, excruciatingly, exhausting, and mentally draining days of our lives. Who am I kidding...Lisa took 99.9% of the blow, and she took it like a champ! I'm so proud of her.

We both are at peace. We know that you all hurt with us, and you all prayed your hearts out. Rest assured, we read and re-read every comment, message, text, share, prayer and email, and they carried us through. Each and every encouraging word penetrated our souls, and God heard your prayers. We may never understand why this happened, but we had such an amazing amount of peace today that we cannot explain. We will see our baby boy again. He will never know the evils of this world, and for that we are grateful.

We have so many things to be thankful for: All of you, our friends, our family, our amazing Rabun County community, our 3 beautiful children, our beautiful life, and a God who deeply loves us. Lisa is alive, her leg is continually healing, and the delivery, although it was a painful 12 hour whirlwind of events, went as smoothly as anyone could have expected.

Eli, months ago, decided he wanted to name the baby Jesse, or Jessie, depending on if it was a boy or girl. When Lisa was airlifted, the paramedic's name was Jesse. He was absolutely amazing. He called me from the ER on his personal cell phone to update me on Lisa's condition and to let me know what room she was in. He called me the day after to check in on us, and once more the following day. He even asked us to bring the kids over to Hiawassee so that he can give them a tour of the helicopter and show them how he took care of their mom. When he told Lisa his name, she smiled and said "My oldest son, Eli, wants to name this baby Jesse!" His eyes lit up, and she could tell his wheels were turning. He asked Lisa, "What did you say your son's name is?" She told him again, and he replied, "My son's name is Eli, too!" That was a good enough reason for us to name our baby boy Jesse!

Jesse Damron, our beautiful, perfect in every way, little boy, was born at 3:03 PM, 6.26.16. He weighed 4 ounces and was 6 7/8 inches long.

We're also so thankful for all of the incredible doctors and nurses in the ICU and labor and delivery departments at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. They were all so incredibly compassionate, sweet and competent. They were absolutely incredible.

There is so much more of this story to be told. Perhaps another day.

Again, we appreciate each and every one of you. Thank you. We love you.
