Jara Family Medical Bills
My name is Amanda Botka, I am a friend of Manuel and Valerie Jara's. Some friends of mine and I started Deeter's Wish a couple years ago to help a wonderful man and his family take trip of a lifetime. After this wonderful man, Keith Deeter, passed away from cancer, his daughter Jessica and I decided we would try and help as many families in need as we could. It just so happens that our dear friend Manuel and his family are in need of all of our help!
On Saturday March 9th, 2013 Manuel Jara suffered from a brain aneurysm. He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo where they performed brain surgery called a Endovascular repair. Endovascular repair is where a catheter is put through a small cut in his groin to his artery and then to the small blood vessels in his brain where the aneurysm is located. Thin metal wires are put into the aneurysm. They then coil up into a mesh ball. Blood clots that form around this coil prevent the aneurysm from breaking open and bleeding. The doctors wanted to get six of these "coils" up there but could only get four to take, so most likely he will have to have this surgery done again in about 6 months. This will be a long recovery for Manuel. He will be in the Neuroscience ICU for at least 3 weeks before being moved to a regular room, then will have more recovery time at home. There is no word yet on when he might be able to return to work.
Manuel is married to Valerie Jara and they have three wonderful children. Jasmine who is 10 and in the 5th grade at Spring Hill Intermediate School, Jessenia (Jessie) who is 9 and in the 3rd grade also at Spring Hill Intermediate School, and Manuel Jr. (Junior) who is 7 and in 2nd grade at Spring Hill Elementary School. The couple moved to Spring Hill, Ks in 2007 from Stockton, Ca. Manuel works full time at Costco in Lenexa, Ks and Valerie works part time at Costco in Overland Park.
This family has a rough road ahead of them. Stress is not good for Manuel right now so we are asking all his family and friends to help take some of the stress of medical bills off his shoulders.
