Help my brother a navy veteran- has cancer
Beschermde donatie
In 2011, Nick fought for us in the US Navy. He was deployed when a Tsunami and earthquake hit Japan. Thousands of lives were lost and now a particular life, very close to home, is in danger.
Although the officials claimed the area of Fukushima was deemed safe, Nick entered a zone where a nuclear disaster occured, which was close to levels of the Chernobyl disaster of 1986 that sent hundred of thousands to evacuate and never return. They required him to work in this area which exposed him to dangerous levels of radiation. He then entered the Boilermakers Union in which he worked extremely hard for years. He later left this job when he came upon an opportunity to work as an independent contractor doing structural cabling for distribution centers in Albany, NY and Augusta, Maine area.
Unfortunately, Nick is in a bigger fight now. He had been diagnosed with tongue/throat cancer die to radiation poisoning in Japan and is currently in the hospital with a temporary trach tube. He has had a biopsy but is in the dark about the full extent of his illness at this time. He is currently trying to recover and kicking ass in Maine, where he was working, away from his family and friends.
Nick supports his fiancee and her two children who he took on as his own. They are the light of his life and depend on him daily. Gio, 2 yes old, can't go a day without his "Yaya" and Christian, 10, looks up to him to guide him.
They are worried about their future as Nick is unable to return to work for who knows how long. This fighter who fought for us is still waiting for his ultimately grim diagnosis and needs help supporting himself and his family. He needs us to fight for him now.
Please find it in your heart to help a veteran and his family. Any little bit helps.
Thank you!
