Please Help an Angel in Need

Hi everyone,
As most of you know, our mother Renee was a cornerstone at Morton Hospital’s ICU for 23 years as a registered nurse. She served on the front lines for the most critical of patients. Her work was her pride and joy; she helped save hundreds, if not thousands, of lives during her tenure there. She made a difference in the lives of not only her patients, but to their families, her co-workers, and the doctors she reported to. It wasn’t just her encyclopedic medical knowledge that made her an incredible nurse; it was her character, her compassion, her capacity for empathy, and her massive, giving, loving heart.
She loves helping people. She loved working at Morton because it was a community hospital, a family, a place where she could be a warrior of healing for people every single day.
Now she is the one in need of help.
Last month, Renee’s declining health deteriorated, and she was admitted to Morton Hospital. She took a turn for the worst on February 3, 2021, and she was transferred to the ICU — the same unit she dedicated two decades to — and was put on a ventilator due to a sepsis infection that very nearly took her life.
That’s where she is now, still fighting like the warrior she is and always has been.
We are asking for help from the same community she made such an impact in.
To make matters more difficult, the banks have started the foreclosure process on her home. Saving our house is an extremely unlikely scenario at this point. However, we are hoping to raise enough money to be able to afford a new place for our mom and family to live, because she’s going to need a place to come home to when she beats this.
Our mom has a long road to recovery ahead. She’ll need months of rehab and aftercare, and we know insurance won’t cover all of it. We are asking for help with this as well.
Please help this wonderful, selfless, giving, loving woman who was an angel to so many during her career.
An angel to all of us.
Thank you so much.
