A BIT OF BACKGROUND
We are one year out from the tragic passing of my identical twin brother and "sausage buddy," Scott. He left us long before his/our dream of opening the perfect little sausage shop was realized. He wanted to feed and entertain all who entered.
When you lose someone unexpectedly, tragically, grief finds a way to manifest itself to help heal that from which you can never recover. Well, it's time to make that happen! Southgate Sausage's birth and growth is part of our grief process. Realizing Scott's dream is part of our grief process.
OUR PLAN
To honor Scott's memory, I have changed the name from The Local Sausage to The Southgate Sausage Company, using his middle name. We will continue to push forward to bring his dream to life...and to your table, and to keep a part of him with us always.
Our picture for the business is a simple one: a small butcher shop setting where we will sell sandwiches and our unique line of handmade sausages. In addition, we'll be offering a line of home made pickles, jams, mustards and more. Sandwiches and sausages will also be cooked on site for take-away or to eat in while you enjoy the atmosphere!
Until we can make enough money to get a storefront and make whatever kinds of renovations are necessary, we can create wonderful sausages for you, but they have to be made in a certified kitchen for us to sell them. We found a lovely space, but there is overhead, of course: rent, supplies, time, packaging, etc.
WHY SUCH A HIGH GOAL?
Building a business from the ground up is not an easy or inexpensive feat. We are aware of what a large financial undertaking this will be and, while we are always hopeful that we will meet and exceed our goal, we realize that we may need additional funding after this campaign is complete. If such is the case, then the funds raised here will go towards the initial expenses in getting the business closer and closer to the brick and mortar world.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU AS A DONOR:
Donate as much or as little as you are able, as every penny is helpful and appreciated. The name of every donor will go on a plaque so that we will always be reminded of your part in keeping Scott's memory in the kitchen with us. Donations of $100 or more will be thanked with a $25 gift certificate to the Southgate Sausage Company. $500+ donations will be appreciated with a $50 gift certificate and $1000+ donations will be hugely appreciated with a sandwich per month for life. If you can't donate, please share this fundraiser with family and friends.
A WORTHY CAUSE:
This project has always meant the world to us and keeping Scott's memory alive means so much more. A portion of the proceeds from The Southgate Sausage Co. will be donated to Suicide Prevention.
