You helped me go to the Amazon!!!
Hello everyone! Thanks to all of your support and help, I was able to go to the Amazon rainforest! It was the most amazing trip of my life and I am forever grateful and thankful to all of you. I could not have gone without your help and help from offline donors that are not shown on this site. I will be posting pictures for all of you to see! My name is Carmela, and I am currently a senior in high school. I love the thought of being able to travel and go to new places. Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to go to the Amazon Rain Forest. The animals, the climate, the plants, and the natives have always intrigued me. There is a trip, through my school, that is taking a group of students to the Amazon this summer. Even though both my mom and dad work full-time jobs, neither my parents nor I have the money for me to take this trip. My friends and other people who are going on this trip have the financial availability to go, and it is sad for me to realize that I can't go because I do not have the funding. It is also hard to see people around me doing things that I know I may never be able to do. This is my last hope to go on the trip this summer. It is an eight to ten day trip. I would fly to Miami, then to South America, and then to the heart of the Amazon. My group would meet with the natives and learn about their way of life. In the next ten years, this trip will probably not even be available because the rain forest is disappearing at a quick rate and the native culture is disintegrating. In the future, I hope to be an activist for the environment and animals. I know that someday I can make a positive change in the world. The expedition begins on August second, which happens to be my 18th birthday. The best birthday present ever would be the chance to go on this trip. The airplane ticket will cost the most, and the rest will go towards lodging and food. My goal is to raise $3,000.00 as soon as possible so I can reserve my spot for trip and buy the airplane ticket before it is too late.
I am truly grateful for any donation that you are able to share with me. I believe that great things can happen when people come together.
