Per my request, I asked Vicky to share how this journey began and where they are now. Please read the beautiful testimony of His grace:
"When I was a little girl, I never had cause for worry or fear because my big strong daddy was there to take care of any need I had. He fixed my toys, my broken bike, and all my ouchies in life. When I became a teenager and had a broken heart over a teenage crush, my daddy was there and everything was okay. When I became an adult, my dad always showed up to help fix my plumbing or a broken fence or a faulty water heater. He lived more than an hour away, but he was only a phone call away. With a simple phone call, my dad was there! I’ve never had need to worry because my dad fixed everything. In December of last year I had some swelling under my armpit and felt some small lumps. I went to the doctor and three biopsies were performed. Five days before Christmas I was given the news that one of the lumps was a cancerous tumor. From that day to this, I have not had a moment of dread or fear or doubt because I know my Father can fix it. It has been very easy for me to switch the trust in my earthly father to my Heavenly Father. I know my Heavenly Father loves me far more than even my earthly father does. For this reason, I choose to trust Him totally. I honestly have not lost a moment of life worrying or fretting over what may be. My Father can fix it, and so I will just leave it in His hands. When the report of cancer came, the doctorl told me the cancer was slow-growing and that I had some time to make decisions. Joe and I fervently prayed and sought God’s will. A seasoned and godly Christian couple came and prayed with us and for us and gave us a series of DVD’s called “The Quest for the Cure.” Those lessons changed our lives. For the past three months, I have totally changed my lifestyle. Cancer thrives on sugar, so I have not had a bite of sugar. I have lost over 40 pounds by eating only vegetables and eggs and nuts. I have detoxed my body and have had nearly every supplement and herb that man knows combats cancer. All of my recent blood work came back that I am a VERY healthy person – but I have cancer. LOL. Around the same time that I was diagnosed with cancer, my lower back began to be in intense pain. I went to a reputable acupuncturist in my area that I randomly found on line. (I had no idea he was a Christian when I made an appointment with him. Before he ever started working on me, he asked if he could pray for me and with me. WOW!) The acupuncture worked wonders. I went from a pain level of 10 to 2. Then, one day I jerked up suddenly during a lightning storm and since then, the pain has not stopped. After spending 27 hours in the ER, the doctors told me that the cancer has spread to my spine and that the cancer had weakened that area so that my spine is now fractured. I have had X-rays, MRI’s ,a CAT scan, and a PET scan. I have seen radiologists, doctors, specialists, an oncologist, a neurologist, and a pain management doctor. All have differing reports. The spine specialist told me today that there is nothing they can do except to keep me on morphine or some other drug. Joe has had to take off many days of work just to help me get out of bed and dressed and to doctor appointments. The bills are piling, and the loss of his income pinches, but God’s grace has been more than sufficient. We are not sure of which way to head so we covet your prayers for wisdom. I know He doeth ALL things well, and I trust Him totally. My Heavenly Father can fix everything. To top it all off, I have had an experience that few people in this world ever get to have. I have got to see what it means to be truly loved. I have got to see a host of people praying for me and encouraging me and loving me. I have got to experience the “for better or worse, for richer - for poorer, and in sickness and in health” kind of love that many only hear in a ceremony. In all of this, Joe has made me feel like a priceless treasure and has loved me with the kind of unconditional love that many girls only dream of. I have seen what true friendship means, even though the miles separate so many of us now. I can indeed say, I am a very rich person. I have treasured friends, an amazing husband, and a Heavenly Father who loves me intensely. I choose to trust that He doeth all things well and that He will supply all our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus."
