Katelyns rare illness

Donation protected
I'm starting this fundraiser for my sweet wife Katelyn. Very few and only those who know her intimately have known that she has been very sick for about 4 years. She has done a really good job of putting on a brave face and trying her best to live an outwardly normal life. Inside our home watching her suffer on the bad days has been heartbreaking and hard, wishing I could fix it for her somehow. Inspite of her daily battle with pain and illness, she is still such a sweet loving mother to our two little girls. Watching her be referred from Doctor to Doctor, one painful procedure after the next, with no real cure or solid diagnosis has been taxing and frustrating. Katelyn is known for her optimism and sunny disposition and that has held true through her struggles. I very rarely hear her complain though I see her pain. She has kept close to the Lord in prayer and has always had faith that answers will come in His time. Never has she given into the idea that sickness and pain will be her life.

This year Katelyn was finally referred to an Oncologist after I called 911 for an ambulance at 2am one night. The weeks and months that have followed have brought us a lot of answers that have been much needed but are also very scary and hard to hear. The many test, scans, and rounds of blood work done in the ER that night and in the following days, revealed large Seromas in each Breast. This has raised concerns that she may have a very rare form of cancer called ALCL effusions -Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma. (Cancer related to her breast reconstruction done in 2011). She was also diagnosed with Silicone toxicity/ bio toxicity throughout her body, explaining her newly acquired auto immune diseases. Two MRI's and an ultrasound confirmed an extremely rare breast implant rupture on her right side called an extracapsular rupture. This is causing free floating Silicone to spread up towards to her neck, into her collarbone, ribs, and armpit. We have learned that implants can cause or spark a whole host of diseases in the right situations including her recently diagnosed lyme disease and connective tissue disease.  This type of rupture has been known to become fatal if not dealt with correctly and quickly. This year has been a whirlwind of new information, doctors appointments with specialists, surgical consultations, learning, and carful planning.

Never did it cross our minds that her reconstructive surgery and implants could cause cancer and eventually lead to her being slowly poisoned. Implant related illnesses are now becoming more know and talked about.

Her bravery has amazed me. She has elected without hesitation to pursue a drastic surgery to remove both implants, have a large margin of breast tissue removed, while undergoing an invasive exploratory procedure to locate and remove as much silicone as possible from the upper half of her body. In conjunction, she is in need of a procedure called an en-block total capsulectomy. There are very few Doctors in and around the United States that are educated and trained in performing this delicate surgery properly. The goal is to cut out all of the possibly cancerous scar tissue, fluid, and the implant as a whole. This method gives the surgeon the best chance of removing the toxic tissue without spilling more silicone into her chest cavity. We are trying to raise funds for her to travel to have this surgery performed by an ALCL and Capsulectomy Specialist that we trust will do all he can to give her the best shot at recovering. Insurance will not take her on because of these pre-existing conditions and won't extend coverage for this type of specialized procedure. We accumulated a good amount of debt over the years in our pursuit of answers. Though Katelyn still has a long road of healing, recovery, and difficult detox ahead, we feel beyond blessed to finally have answers and feel like miracles have not ceased throughout this entire journey.

Now its time to find a way. We are in desperate need of support and prayers. We are now trying to raise the funds to help pay for her surgery as soon as possible. Every day that passes scares me to death. Thank you so much to everyone of you who has taken the time to read Katelyn's story. Thank you to those who have taken the time to reach out to Katelyn in support.

We are asking for your help to fund her surgery. We are asking for much needed prayers and support for Katelyn.  Whether you are able to donate or not, please share this page on your own social media to give her the best shot possible!

Thank you from the bottom our hearts, with all of the gratitude and affection we could possibly offer: THANK YOU!!
