Mental Health Services for a Black Womxn
Donation protected
Hello everyone. My name is Cyrah Robinson and I am 20 years old. I’m a college student living on campus for the winter break.
Yesterday (12/19/2020), my mother and I got into a heated argument in which she told me to turn over my phone (which she had disconnected) and my house key. She gave me an ultimatum: either give her the phone and key or she was going to have my university kick me out “onto the street.”
Today (12/20/2020), I received correspondence from my mother in which she stated that I may keep the phone, she has turned it back on, and that I needn’t worry about her anymore because she’s going to die soon. After asking what she meant, she told me that she “wasn’t trying to be manipulative” and that I should “go on and have a good night.”
The mental anguish that I have been through in the last 48 hours is enough to last a lifetime. Anything you’re able to give would be used to buy food while I’m on campus for the remainder of the break, for tuition as now I can no longer count on my mother to help me pay, as well as trying to get some mental health services for myself. I’m in the process of applying for jobs but, due to being in the middle of a pandemic, I’ve had no luck.
I’m grateful for anything that you’re able to give and if you can’t give, please share this everywhere.
Thank you.
