I'm Charlotte Hellen, lucky enough to be friends with Trish Brown.
Trish Brown and I met when her son Luca and my daughter Sophia were at kindy together. They are now turning 13.
We have had so many fun times together, sometimes just the two of us, family and friends camping trips, Friday afternoon chats with crazy music while the kids danced, girls lunches, and the list goes on.
Trish is totally unique. With the warmest, gentle but strong smile and heart, she is a true life-long friend to all who know and love her. She never complains. Always smiles and sees the good in everyone and everything. Always asks how others are. Always up for a laugh. Always beautiful inside and out.
Trish was diagnosed with breast cancer a number of years ago, and bravely underwent surgery to remove the cancer from her breast and lymph nodes. She then underwent chemotherapy and radiation. After a couple of years on medication, she was then to find last year that the cancer had spread to numerous areas in her bones. Trish has since undergone radiation again and repetitive chemo and is in the throes of another session as I type this. She is still managing to work a tiny bit and hold her family life together.
Her wonderful husband John, daughter Nebraska and son Luca, and puppy Cody have been an amazing support. As has her mum Marcia, her brothers and other extended family members and friends.
The emotional strain on Trish and her family is tremendous as I'm sure you would all know, as most of us come face to face with something as cruel as cancer at some time.
The financial strain is also debilitating, with Luca still at school, and the cost of doctor bills, treatments, and Trish having had to reduce her work dramatically.
I am running the Gold Coast 1/2 marathon in a couple of weeks on Sunday 3 July, in the hope that you will support my run by donating to the Trish Trust, to help Trish and her family win their marathon.
Each and every one of you will forever be in my daily gratitude list!
