Celebration of Life for Dad

It's with a heavy heart that we share the news of our Dad's unexpected passing. So many emotions are felt as his loved ones process this news and think of all the precious moments that we had with our Dad, Ruben Gonzalez Sr. 

Dad taught his children from a young age to never give up and no matter how dire the situation may be, there is always a silver lining. Three things one could count on with Dad were his trademark smile, his positive outlook (even when times were tough) and his gratitude for the little things. Family was everything to Dad. A quick phone call or seeing one of his children or grandchildren made his day. 

When one would call Dad and ask how he was doing, he would say, "my day just got better because you called." He just had the knack of making those in his presence -- whether in person or over the phone -- feel special. 

Dad instilled many of the values in his children that are part of who they are today: family, kindness, determination, integrity, open-mindedness, inclusion and compassion. 

Dad loved spending time with his family, listening to classic rock, watching WW II films and going on his daily walk. 

Dad passed unexpectedly in his home located in San Luis Obispo, CA. We would like to bring his remains to his final resting place in Orange County, CA. Due to his unexpected passing, transportation needs, pandemic services considerations and other details, we find ourselves with increasing costs.
