East Burlington Mural & Public Art Fund

Alamance Article is seeking to create a platform for public art that serves to enhance our community, increase access to cultural programming, and connect the neighborhoods of Burlington, NC. We are an organization formed with the belief that art matters. Period. Public art adds value to the cultural, aesthetic and economic vitality of a community. East Davis Street Historic district is the core of East Burlington comprising of five blocks of stylish middle-class Queen Anne homes and a small potential business district. But it’s desperately in need of some TLC. “You have businesses that are open but look closed. There are sidewalks, but no one on them. East Davis Street Historic District has so much potential if a little investment is made.” Local resident Lynn Sampson expresses. That’s where we come in! Alamance Article is seeking to coordinate the installation of 12 zodiac murals across Burlington, NC representing each astrological signs. Art is a stepping stone to building community, and when complete The Zodiac will be an incredible way to explore the city. Alamance Article founder Roger Moore explains why this project is exciting for East Burlington, “Art is a great gateway to unity and what better way to include EVERYONE than with The Zodiac Project! I foresee this public art exhibit bringing people to Alamance County to explore and look around for all the murals. This will also ultimately bring different people to an array of local businesses throughout the county. The Zodiac Project will represent everyone and that’s is why I think it is so important.” Our goal is to crowd fund to complete the first mural this winter! Talented and renowned local artist @nonperishable has signed on for the first installation at 703 E Davis Street! But, we need your help!! If we can get 300 people to donate $10 we will be able to execute the first mural! Help us by sharing, sharing, sharing! And, if you’re able to donate - please support the arts! Let’s make art together.
