Shannon was doing so well and excited that she was able to get out and enjoy her summer/fall with her family. She was feeling so wonderful with some minor difficulty breathing and some nausea.
She went in for a blood draw on November 9 and had to get a bone marrow biopsy on November 11 because things did not look right. We are so sad to let you know Shannon is back in for the fight of her life. The t-lymphoblastic lymphoma is back and brought a nasty friend acute myeloid leukemia.
Friday, December 4, 2020 Shannon was admitted to the cancer wing of the St. Cloud Hospital for a 30 day treatment to wipe out her counts to prepare her for her bone marrow transplant. She is PRAYING for everything to go just perfect. As long as there is no infections or fevers, she can come home early to be with her family for Christmas. If you would like to send her encouragement and thoughts she can get mail at the;
St. Cloud Hospital
Shannon Backes Room #N514
1406 6th Avenue North
St Cloud, MN 56301
She cannot have flowers or plants!! Shannon is not able to have any visitors either because of COVID restrictions.
When Shannon is done with her treatment she will be moved to either the University of MN or the Mayo Clinic for a bone marrow transplant. She will have to stay there for 100 days for treatment.
This is a ton of time away from her precious kids, Kolten & Adyson, and husband Kevin.
Shannon said the doctor was in this morning (December 5). Her counts are dropping especially the hemoglobin/white counts more like they are supposed to. She will have to get 2 units of blood but at least she is still feeling good.
