Here is a USAWTF call to action. We have been contacted by an Army service member who is in desperate need to get his daughter back.
His daughter was taken from him by his ex-wife while he was deployed to Iraq in 2009. Since then he has been trying to get her back with lawyers, the US State Dept and the Hague.
Upon his return from Iraq in 2010, he contacted Children's Services at the US State Department in Washington DC. At that time they said that the only thing they could do was file a Hague Petition for a return of his daughter to the US from Spain... But he had to hurry because the clock was ticking.
He filed the petition and it went to the Central Authority in Spain. They reviewed the case, but since my daughter had been there since June of 2009, they felt that it was best if the child stayed there. That, and his ex wife lied to the Spanish authorities about the case.
So the Spanish Central Authority denied the application. At that time, US State Dept said that there was nothing they could do other than visit his daughter once every six months for a "health and welfare" visit.
They did that. Once::.
Then when he contacted them for additional visits, they said that they had budget issues and they could no more visits unless there was suspected child abuse. To his knowledge, there wasn't so he was done.
Last year State had an Open House with Children's Services. Sec Clinton was there and she wanted to insure us, the parents, that the full resources of the US State Dept were behind us.... BS....
He continued to contact state, they repeatedly told him that there was nothing that they could do. They gave him a couple of phone numbers to lawyers in Spain and said "have a nice day, good luck."
Last week he hired the same attorney here in the states that won the Supreme Court case last week with SFC Jeff Chafin. His daughter is in Scotland. You can read his story here http://fox4kc.com/tag/jeff-chafin. Now it's gotten to the point that this Soldier can't even talk to my daughter. His ex has alienated him from her. Even though he still pays child support every month IAW AR 608-99.
We need the USAWTF Nation to spread the word about the case and the website that has been set up to support this Soldier. His battle now has to be taken to Spain. And the fight there is not going to be easy or cheap...
He's already several thousand in the hole fighting here over the past three years. He just needs help... both with awareness and resources.
